Killer caught by DNA in ’75 murder gets life

The sentence was the only one available at the time of a Tulsa Junior College student’s slaying.

Time and technology caught up again with Clyde Carl Wilkerson, who wheeled out of a courtroom Wednesday to face the rest of his life in prison for murdering a woman in Tulsa almost 30 years ago.

Wilkerson has now incurred two murder convictions in two states in cases that relied on DNA profiling, which was unavailable when he committed the crimes.

Wilkerson, 65, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the slaying of Tulsa Junior College student Geraldine Martin, 28.
